I quattro protagonisti: Sick boy, Begbie, Spud ed appunto Renton vogliono fuggire dal solito, dalle lavatrici, dagli apriscatole elettrici, dai telequiz rimbambenti e ammazza-cervello, e dall’atmosfera asfissiante della Scozia, che come dice McGregor, non ha trovato “neanche una cultura decente da cui farsi colonizzare”.
